Must be wound if you want it to work.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eto wind: remove watch from your wrist, grasp the crown between your thumb and index finger, and turn it slowly in a clockwise direction (away from you) until you feel firm resistance  As you turn the crown, the mainspring tightens and you will feel the tension gradually increase. Most vintage manual-wind movements take about 20 to 30 turns.  Stop winding immediately the moment you feel a firm, hard stop. Forcing a vintage manual-wind watch past this point can snap or damage the delicate mainspring, recommended to wind once a day at same time every day.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eto set date: pull the crown all the way out, turn the crown clockwise continuously through the 24 cycles until date advances to correct date\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eto set time: pull the crown out and always rotate the hands clockwise.
